Telemedicine can be beneficial, when implemented correctly. Telemedicine allows for medical appointments to be carried out through video chat programs. However, the traditional approach to Telemedicine is video chat appointments. This often has a long waiting time and is extremely stressful for the medical staff because this is a new program. If the information is not entered correctly, then they may not get reimbursed by medical insurances. If these clinics implemented Remote Patient Monitoring and Chronic Care Management programs, which fall under the telemedicine umbrella. Then elderly patients and patients with chronic conditions would be monitored remotely. MAs consistently monitoring their vitals, enabling the physician to make prudent decisions based off on the data provided by the patient. This prevents patients from going to the ER and provides physicians with information to avoid a life-threatening event. In short, Telemedicine itself is not all that big of a game changer unless paired with Remote Patient Monitoring and Chronic Care Management programs.
